A seguito dell'adozione da parte del Parlamento Europeo della Dichiarazione scritta 111/2007 firmata da 438 europarlamentari, FEANTSA ha lanciato il 14 aprile 2010 a Brussels la Campagna Ending Homelessness, in concomitanza dell'apertura dell' Anno Europeo di lotta alla povertà e all'esclusione sociale.
Ne è scaturito l'impegno a sviluppare strategie integrate, a partire dalla Conferenza di consenso del prossimo dicembre sul tema dell'homelessness.
fio.PSD sostiene l'iniziativa di FEANTSA e intende rilanciarla, nei prossimi mesi, nel territorio italiano attraverso iniziative e attività, finalizzate a informare l'opinione pubblica e a sollecitare le istituzioni nazionali, affinché sviluppino politiche adeguate in materia.
Tutto ciò nella convinzione, come sostiene Feantsa, "che è necessario e possibile porre termine all'homelessness in Europa. Limitarsi a gestire il fenomeno non è sufficiente. È tempo di smettere di investire in misure a breve termine e di avviare l'implementazione di strategie integrate per porre fine alla grave esclusione sociale".
